NKU students and faculty are continuing to work at the Parker Academy site this May. Our first week of work as challenging due to weather and a great deal of mud and water that saturated the site. However, the students did a fantastic job and made progress with excavations that were started last summer. We were able to dig below the stone foundation under the men’s dormitory and we encountered the sterile subsoil below the richer deposits of the dorm occupations.
Northern Kentucky University students will join Parker Academy Project principal archaeologist, Dr. Sharyn Jones and co-project collaborators, NKU historians Drs. Brian Hackett and William Landon, along with Dr. Peggy Brunache, for an abbreviated field season of excavation beginning May 9.
